Odessa Regional Medical Center was founded in 1975 by 14 obstetricians, pediatricians, and family practitioners as Odessa Women’s and Children’s Hospital. Through the years, the hospital grew and evolved into a full-service healthcare facility and the name was changed to Odessa Regional Hospital in 1995.
In June 2007, Odessa Regional Hospital purchased Alliance Hospital and changed its name to Odessa Regional Medical Center to reflect its larger campus and more comprehensive services. In 2015, ORMC acquired Basin Healthcare Center. The hospital has 225 beds and has approximately 250 physicians on staff and has over 700 employees.
Today, ORMC offers a wide spectrum of healthcare services, including advanced diagnostic imaging technology, emergency care, innovative surgical procedures, maternity care, comprehensive cardiac services and general medical care.
About the Shift:
Monday - Friday 7:00 am - 3:30 pm - Per Diem (as needed) - On Call as needed
About the Position:
Responsible for keeping the Surgical Services Inventory Department clean and organized and free from expired product. Orders all special order inventory and PAR level supplies utilizing the electronic inventory management system. Keeps Director informed of cost savings activities and opportunities. Maintains adequate levels of supplies without creating surpluses. Manages all inventory records in and efficient and organized manner. Participates in the department's performance improvement activities.
Orders all special order and PAR supplies by utilizing the electronic inventory management system.
Researches GPO Compliance and requests item/charge numbers for new product utilizing the appropriate worksheet.
Stocks shelves with supplies after delivery from Materials Management in a timely manner. Notifies the Materials Director and/ OR Manager when receiving special order equipment, instruments, etc.
Maintains all stocking areas in a neat and organized manner.
Keep receiving corridor clear of supplies and boxes.
Checks all stock locations and carts for expired product. Identifies and pulls forward any product expiring within 3 months.
Properly handles and stocks product in a manner that maintains integrity and sterility of the item.
Checks off all product against purchasing lists. Dates with “received” date accordingly. Monitors “non-received” items daily.
Reviews all backorders on a daily basis. Expedites product or responds by looking for alternative vendors.
Communicates backorders and out of stocks to Director Materials Management and OR Director and lists items on stock room communication board and assist with possible solutions.
Manages and adjusts OR PAR and special inventory supplies as volume requires.
Maintains Inventory Sheets for all locations in the Operating Room.
Keeps accurate records of all consignment inventory and refers to implant log regularly to identify any used stock.
Enters appropriate information on tissue tracking log when receiving graft material.
Seeks cost savings opportunities by maintaining adequate par levels as well as other
Utilizes GPO website for current contract information.
Works with all sales reps to ensure price competition and accuracy are achieved.
Processes all traveling requisitions according to proper procedure and coding.
Always informs OR Director/Materials Director when leaving the department.
Observes safety precautions at all times; uses protective wear, gloves, goggles; uses proper body mechanics.
Follows all infection control practices including; handwashing and standard precautions.
Reports safety hazards to the OR Nurse Manager
Assists with other duties as requested.
Regularly collaborates with other members of the nursing team, in order to maintain equipment and supplies for surgical procedures.
Establishes and maintains effective communication and good working relationship with internal and external customers.
Makes decisions reflecting knowledge of facts and good judgment within the Operating Room Technician’s scope of practice.
Provides care appropriate to condition and age of the patient, including pediatric, geriatric, and general population. (See Performance Evaluation Age-Related Competency)
- High School graduate or equivalent.
- Able to effectively communicate in English, both verbally and in writing.
- Additional languages preferred.
- Ability to read and comprehend written instructions, manuals etc.
- Basic computer knowledge.
