Job Description
Job Summary: The EMT works collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary team and assists with emergency room procedures.
Performs patient care activities within the scope of licensure and training. Demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth
and development over the life span of a patient; possess the ability to identify each requirements relative to his or her age specific
needs and to provide the care needed as described in the unit's policies and procedures and skills check lists. Must be able to
respect diversity of each individual’s values, culture, spiritual beliefs, and other socio-economic issues in addressing the needs of
patients, visitors, and co-workers. Participates in performance improvement activities. Other duties as assigned.
Age of population served: Infant, Child, Adolescent, Adult, and Geriatric. Demonstrates understanding of suicide prevention and
patient restraints for sitting assignments of 1:1 care, frequent checks and continuous observation of patients. Other duties as
assigned.
Regulatory Requirements:
• High School graduate or equivalent.
• Current EMT.
• Current certifications as indicated by the Steward Certification Grid.
• Minimum of six months to one year experience in acute or emergency care setting preferred or the ability to
learn and demonstrate proficiency after successful completion of a training program.
• Certifications as indicated by the Steward Certification document.
Language Skills:
• Able to effectively communicate in English, both verbally and in writing.
• Additional languages preferred.
Skills:
• Basic computer knowledge.
