Odessa Regional Medical Center was founded in 1975 as Odessa Women’s and Children’s Hospital. Through the years, the hospital grew and evolved into a full-service healthcare facility and the name was changed to Odessa Regional Medical Center to reflect its larger campus and more comprehensive services. The hospital has 225 beds and has approximately 250 physicians on staff and has over 700 employees.
Today, ORMC offers a wide spectrum of healthcare services, including advanced diagnostic imaging technology, emergency care, innovative surgical procedures, maternity care, comprehensive cardiac services and general medical care.
The Infection Control Manager is responsible for managing and supervising all activities related to the prevention, control, documentation and reporting of nosocomial acquired infections and communicable diseases at Odessa Regional Medical Center and Scenic Mountain Medical Center.
The Employee Health Nurse/Infection Control Practitioner at Scenic Mountain Medical Center will support the Infection Control Manager with Infection Control Program related activities.
These responsibilities include setting standards and evaluating compliance for practices that are associated with the prevention and control of healthcare-associated infections. The Infection Control Manager is responsible for designing, leading and maintaining a hospital based infection prevention and control program at Odessa Regional Medical Center and Scenic Mountain Medical Center that is consistent with the Centers for Disease Control and Preventions recommendations, DNV, OSHA and DSHS regulations and current published literature in the field of Hospital Epidemiology.
The Infection Control Manager is responsible for the development, implementation and management of an effective infection control program in order to minimize hospital acquired infections. The Infection Control Manager works to create a safe working environment while promoting safe work practices. The Infection Control Manager will provide consultative services to all areas, both clinical and non-clinical at Odessa Regional Medical Center and Scenic Mountain Medical Center.
Under the general supervision of the Chief Quality Officer with latitude for independent initiative and judgment to ensure ongoing improvement and compliance of the Infection Control Program. The Infection Control Manager is responsible for day to day oversight of hospital implementation of the system’s approved Infection Control Program.
- Bachelor of Science in healthcare field of study, RN or MT preferred. MS preferred a minimum of two (2) years’ experience in hospital infection control.
- Knowledgeable in fields related to infection control, microbiology, patient care practices, clinical infectious diseases, pathology, medical statistics or biostatics, epidemiology and adult education principles.
- Certification Board for Infection Control and Epidemiology (CIC) required.
- Member of the Association of Practitioners of Infection Control and Epidemiology.
- Working knowledge of microbiology, epidemiology, infectious diseases, aseptic techniques and current practices.
