Odessa Regional Medical Center was founded in 1975 as Odessa Women’s and Children’s Hospital. Through the years, the hospital grew and evolved into a full-service healthcare facility and the name was changed to Odessa Regional Medical Center to reflect its larger campus and more comprehensive services. The hospital has 225 beds and has approximately 250 physicians on staff and has over 700 employees.

Today, ORMC offers a wide spectrum of healthcare services, including advanced diagnostic imaging technology, emergency care, innovative surgical procedures, maternity care, comprehensive cardiac services and general medical care.

About the Position:

Community Health Center Medical Assistant. This is a hybrid position that is Medical Assistant / Phlebotomy / Registration Clerk. Candidate must be bilingual with Spanish. Hours are typically M-F, 40 hour work week during the day; some Saturdays for Health Fairs. Closed on holiday's.
Regulatory Requirements:

• Graduate of accredited Medical Assistant program;

Position Qualifications:

• Current licensure in Texas as: Medical Assistant
• Certifications as indicated by the Steward Certification document.
• Intermediate skill with Microsoft Office (emphasis in Excel) and computer usage
• Some travel required as we cover our 16 county Region

Job Summary: The Medical Assistant Community Health Center (MA-CHC) provides outpatient clinical services within the scope of practice for a Medical Assistant in Texas. The clinical services are under the oversight of the Chief Medical Officer or ORMC and directly supervised by the CHC Clinical Coordinator. The MA-CHC also fulfills the needs of patient registration for CHC and hospital services, as well as participates in Mobile Van events in our communities. The CHC serves both the ORMC Odessa community and the SMMG Big Spring community, as we are sister hospitals within the Steward Healthcare organization. Training and learning will never end for positions in the Community Health Center as we expand our role and adjust to the needs of our hospitals and community. The MA-CHC will be expected to expand and adjust with us. Patient interaction is a large part of this role so excellent communication is a must. The MA-CHC will assist to maintain regulatory agency requirements, nursing and hospital policies, procedures and standards and provide care that reflects initiative and responsibility indicative of professional expectations. MA-CHC will participate in Performance Improvement Activities and provide care to an age range from neonate to geriatric. Other duties as assigned.
