Job Summary: Responsible for administration and direct application of Speech/Language Pathology treatment modalities as prescribed by a referring physician. Evaluates, plans, directs, and treats all patients referred for Speech/Language Pathology treatments to restore function and prevent disability following disease or injury. Assists patients to obtain maximum performance and function in society, while learning to live a routine “normal” life within the constraints of their disability. Ensures that patient changes are accurate and entered on a timely basis. Participates in all infection control, departmental equipment training, organizational safety and fire safety programs. Assures personal competency. Provides information related to departmental budget considerations in relationship to Speech Pathology needs for optimum patient care and service. Assists in scheduling of patient visits for speech pathology evaluation and treatment. Performs some administrative duties. Demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span of a patient; possess the ability to identify requirements of each patient relative to his or her age specific needs and to proved the care needed as described in the unit’s policies and procedures skills check lists. Must be able to respect diversity of each person’s values, culture, spiritual beliefs, and other socio-economic issues in addressing the needs of patients, visitors, and co-workers. Participates in Peformance Improvement activities. Provides service to age range from infant to geriatric. Other duties as assigned.
